While our Twitter feeds are still littered with Tiger King references and theories about Carole Baskin (no, just us?), there’s another film taking Netflix by storm in a major way: ‘Uncorked.’

Following the journey of a young man torn between his dream of becoming a sommelier and his father’s expectations to take over the family barbecue business, this Netflix Original is a refreshing take on the world of wine.

“Wine films haven’t always been the most approachable to the average viewer,” said Fantesca’s Director DLynn Proctor. “I’m excited to have been invited to work with such a professional and highly-regarded cast to help reflect the reality of young sommeliers working toward their dream.”

DLynn Proctor, widely known for his recurring involvement in the wine documentary series ‘Somm,’ earned the title of Associate Producer for his work behind the scenes on Uncorked.

“Working with Mamoudou Athie to develop his character in the film, Elijah, was a great opportunity,” said DLynn. “I wanted him to demonstrate the many characteristics of being a sommelier, which involve more than the ever-popular parlor trick of naming wines through blind tasting. This is a film that connects with people while maintaining a sense of authenticity.”

Spring Mountain earns a nod in the film thanks to Proctor’s assistance in the script development through a server’s recommendation of Fantesca Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain. In the film, Elijah shares that he’s heard “a lot of hype about the ‘13” but ultimately chooses Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz.

Uncorked quickly earned recognition as the #1 film on Netflix following its release, and stands to earn a spot as a must-see alongside other fan-favorites such as Sideways, Bottle Shock, Somm.
