Irene Sarocka Scully

In 2001, Irene Sarocka Scully embarked upon a journey to produce exceptional cabernet sauvignon wine from her estate located in the Spring Mountain District.  Family is at the heart of this project, from the label – Sarocka is Irene’s Lithuania maiden name – to the estate property where her children and increasing brood of grandchildren enjoy harvesting flowers, fruits and vegetables from the extensive gardens.

Enlisting the help of David Abreu in 2005, they replanted the 2.5-acre vineyard to choice clones of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc. With an extremely diverse soil structure and sunlight exposure, the vineyard was meticulously mapped out to place the correct varietals in the exact location to maximize the use of the modest site.

With a keen eye for beauty and a love for travel, Irene lives by the philosophy, “It’s better to do it right than do it easy.”  Today, under the vineyard management of Jim Barbour, we continue to fine-tune each block of the vineyard.  Winemaker Michael Hirby has been at the helm since 2011, overseeing production of our ANTRA and SAROCKA wines.
