In 1881, Spring Mountain had 55 acres of vineyard, but by 1887 the number had grown to 355 acres of which 216 acres were planted to Zinfandel.

Today, the Napa Valley cultivates over 43,000 acres of vines. As of 2004, Spring Mountain District (AVA) cultivates barely 1000 acres of vines, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, yet the District’s wines are receiving more than their share of world-class recognition.

Red varietals: approximately 90% of total planted acreage.

• Cabernet Sauvignon: approximately 56% of planted acreage
• Merlot: approximately 18% of planted acreage

White varietals: approximately 10% of total planted acreage.
